Targeting & Tracking System:  Athena Accutrack II+ with Targeting Computer

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
Taking feedback from the Foxhound tank project RHI designers sought to improve
upon the design aiming to make a tough tank that is inexpensive. The result
was a tank that is still tough, but easy on the budget.

==Capabilities:==
The tank (Twardy is polish for Tough) gets its name from  from the above
avarage protection that eight tons of heavy ferro fiberous armor carries, like
the Foxhound the armor layout is a massivly armored turret for utilizing hull
down fighting positions with heavy frontal armor and moderately armed sides
and rear on the hull.

Like the Foxhound, the Twardy makes use of the angular turret found on takes
such as the historical M1 Abrams with sloping angles that increase the
liklihood of a bounce from incoming projectiles. Included is blowout pannels
that vent the force of the ammunition explosion out and away from the crews
inside the turret. A fire supression system also engages to ensure the crew is
protected and given oppertunity to escape and allows the tank to be recovered
and easily repaired to be placed back out in the field.

Armarment on the Twardy is made from weapons taken off old battlemechs such as
the enforcer to drive down costs with the 105mm auto cannon having an amazing
4 tons of ammunition meant to utilize the variety of munitions, from
Anti-infantry flechette to Armor piercing and Guided munitions depending on
what may be expected. To ensure maximum accuracy the autocannon is tied to a
targeting computer to make every shout count. Back up weapons include a pair
of medium lasers mounted above the commander's hatch  and a pair of machine
guns, one mounted coaxial and the other on the loader's hatch.

The Twardy can achieve the same speeds as the Foxhound but do so more
economically thanks to the standard fusion engine which helps to reduce costs
towards what a old Manticore would cost.

==Variants:==
The PT-3100A is a modification that removes the medium laser and the 105mm
autocannon for a Gauss rifle with 3 tons of ammunition. The Idea being the
3100A battering a target from a far before the 3100 engages with their
autocannons.

==Deployment==
RHI hopes to begin sales of the Twardy to mainly Marcenary units as so far no
March militia has been keen on purchasing a tank armed with a standard
autocannon and standard lasers, opting for more high tech soultions.

There's considerable competition in the 50-60 ton bracket for tracked tanks, including classics and upgrades of the Vedette, Manticore, Po and even the ancient Tiger. That said, the Twardy looked like what the Po II should be.

I'm on two minds about this one. Its undeniably a rather cost efficient medium tracked tank that combines the flexibility of the classic AC/10 and its specialty ammo, enhanced accuracy via targeting computer and the (rather cheesy) max-min use of free heat sinks. However, it just doesn't stand out enough to make me cry out "Shut up and take my money!"

I'm sure there are others who will love it for keeping things simple, but others will deride it for being TOO simple.

What if I rearmed it with Stealth armor, pricey but would it be more interesting?

Let's see what others say about your cheerful 'lil tank General. Most of the newer members have yet to really get active on our forums. I do believe, if past history is any indication, discussions on new designs and such is a VERY good way to draw them in!

Honestly the Twardy doesn't do anything I wouldn't send a pair of Myrmidons or some cheaper, faster equivalents to do. While indeed cheap it's ammunition dependent main weapon and lack of speed just doesn't seem expedient in the field. Not to say it's a bad tank but it's more of a very... budget design that won't drum up enough interest to keep sales going. Where a big, famous designer with a long lineage of good designs can sell units. I don't think this stands out enough to be worth the expense compared to bigger brands.

tl;dr-
Pros:
Cheap and cheerful with a flexible main cannon.
Cons.
Too slow. Slower than even a Bulldog. Too dependent on ammunition for a single weapon rather than having more versatility at range. Granted it has plenty of ammo. But at the cost of raw damage where it may be needed. Spending some of that 4 tons of ammo on something else may be better

Not sure if you got the right tank but none of Von Luckner is faster than the Twardy.

Wrong tank. Meant to say Bulldog but had VL on the mind.

Bulldog is 4/6, same as the Twardy, I have no clue on where you are getting your information on the bulldog as it too is 4/6 unless you found a 5/8 version of the bulldog I am not aware of. And no more ammo dependent than any other of the AC-10 tanks out there, especially if you are using the Special ammo like AP and precision that drops it down to 5 shots per ton. So while 4 tons is a lot, if you are using AP ammo to ruin another mech warriors day, having 20 shots of the fun Special ammo is a good thing to me.
