The Swift is a Recon Pilots Wet Dream with its speed, state-of-the-art detection suite, and its modern reconnaissance gear and it will cost you a shiny Davion pound to purchase but you get what you pay for. And the test pilots say its worth every pound. The Swift weighs in at 35 tons and tops out at well over 117 kph. It can achieve and maintain that speed due to its 245 Magna XXL Power Plant, its XL Gyro, and its Dorwinion 55T Composite Chassis. The FedSuns engineers produced a Composite Chassis that was light weight but wasn't as bulky as the Endo Steel skeleton. Though they were successful, the materials used in the Composite Structure were incredibly fragile. But that is of minor concern with the Swift’s speed combine with its inherent mobility to leap 210 meters up in the air on its 7 McCloud Special Jump Jets and throw in an ECM suite . . . in theory the Swift should never get hit in the first place.

And on the off chance the Swift does catch a stray shot, it’s protected by a full 7 tons of StarGuard CIV slab armor. Seven tons is 94% of the maximum amount of armor that a 35 ton ‘Mech can reasonably carry. The only complaint the designers received on the ‘Mech was the small cockpit was too cramped for a large man. The design team was quick to reply, ‘Less Armor for more comfort or more armor and you deal with it’. Most Pilots opted to deal with it. So when the Achernar BattleMechs plant isn't pumping out Enforcer III, its retooled to manufacture Swifts albeit at a quarter of the rate of the Enforcer due to the Swifts high price tag.

The Apple Churchill electronic package offers up a triple threat. It comes with a Bloodhound Active Probe, a Guardian Electronic Counter Measures Suite, and Target Acquisition Gear. The Federated Suns saw a need to improve their already formidable electronic warfare capabilities. So they installed a probe that had a range of 240 meters and could penetrate advanced stealth systems. Testing proved conclusively that a Bloodhound-equipped 'Mech could spot units equipped with Null Signature Systems, Void Signature Systems, Stealth Armor, and ECM Suites. The Bloodhound can also detect battle armor equipped with ECM systems, Mimetic Armor, or any kind of Stealth Armor. In addition to the Apple Churchill triple electronic package, the scout ‘Mech comes equipped with a military grade Garret Mole Recon Camera mounted on the ‘Mechs right shoulder. It can withstand all the rigors of combat and even submersion in water and still spit out high definition digital quality holo vids.

The BlazeFire Sweetshot ER Large Laser mounted in the Swift’s left arm is the pilot’s ‘Go To’ weapon. He (or She) can fire it continuously all day while running or jumping the Swift to its maximum without the worry of over heating with its 10 double strength heat sinks. The engineers even mounted one freezer in the left arm itself. The Swift mounts two Diverse Optics Sunfire ER Medium Laser for close combat in its right arm. For its ‘Coup-de-grace’ knock out punch when in knife fighting range, the Swift sports a shoulder mounted Thunderstroke short range quad missile launcher. The Technicians were going to equip the Swift with the latest and greatest in the form of a Streak System but in the end opted out for the standard SRM launcher. Stating their intent was for the Swift to be able to use mission specific munitions ie, Fragmentation for infantry, Acid for Vehicles, Inferno for ‘Mechs, etc. This balanced mix of weapons makes the Swift a powerful light 'Mech. The weapons on the Swift are all linked to an advanced Federated Hunter Mark II Multi-Trac Targeting and Tracking Computer that gives the 1A model incredible accuracy.

I like that one too. The only recommendation I would make is swapping out the SRMs for more energy weapons. Might make the Mech hotter to run but then it has absolutely no worries about ammunition, either resupply or explosions.

I agree with Rabbit. I like this one, too; for the sheer roleplayability of it. I WANT ONE!

I like it as-is. I can't see how you'd be able to change the art and you are obviously striving to make the TRO match the art. So I'm fine with the SRMs.

I can see the SRMs having some value when special munitions are invoked. Infernos, Smoke. There are some good roleplaying/writing options in those things, especially for a recon pilot who needs to think quick on his/her feet to get out of a sticky spot.

Love the art it was based on and loved the design. Speed, electronics package and a bit of a sting that light Mechs aren't supposed to have. However, based on the art, might it not be more accurate to make the launcher a Streak 2 or just a classic SRM-2 to take advantage of specialty ammo?

I've always loved fast Mechs with decent weaponry, with armour a distant consideration. After all, a really good pilot was supposed to be able to 'dance' away from enemy fire no?

Had left over tonnage and I think I ran out of crits or else I would have added two small laser or something like that. I don't recall. I've slept since then. I figured it could fire two really quick salvos (2x2=4) . . . no :?: Oh well, you can't blame a guy for trying.

I believe you've done better than try, Field Marshal. All five votes are loving the design. That says something. :)

Besides that Rabbit guy... he's not always all there.

Nyaah, I think its more about the graphics than the design. But thanks anyway ;) And you know something, I was just messing around around to get the forum talking, however; I would kinda like this 'Mech to get approved for listing to the MHB. I have the $ now, I would at least by a lance of them. Or maybe six units, so each regiment could get at least one. :P

It fits all my needs and wants for a recon Mech... fast, jumps, lots of EW, and pretty much independent of supply lines. If I were running a unit that needed such a Mech, I would get some too.

I believe the art is from Armored Core 5 or Verdict Day. Funnily its also the first of the series to have mecha at 10 meters tall, roughly the size of a battlemech, versus previous series which had their mechs at 30 meters or taller.
