Rules for Approval of BTM canon military hardware

Postby DeputyDirector » Mon Oct 23, 2017 1:19 am

Good day all,

Please see the below rules for the submission of BTM canon military hardware.

1. The military hardware must pass Heavy Metal and/or CBT build rules.

2. There must be appropriate fluff for the design using CBT Canon (up to the end of the FedCom Civil War) or BTM Canon.

3. The design must get more positive than negative votes with a simple majority of 51% being the threshold. The voting will be open for a three month period, at the latest, and approval of the design will be decided at that time. A tie will be decided by either the Deputy or MHB Broker.

4. It must have accurate BV2 value and costs associated with the design. A lack of these figures will automatically disqualify the hardware from being accepted until they are provided.

5. Tech outside of our current timeline cannot be used. BTM will advance technology along the lines of CBT's timeline, but future tech will not be allowed to be fitted to new military hardware.

6. The build must be realistic... yes, you can figure out how to make a "Gausszilla", but why would a military R&D team create such a limited design? There has to be a valid reason for the design, either through fluff or by showing a military need for that design.

This is an update of the Design Submission rules that was previously posted under general Military Hardware Brokerage rules under the Military Hardware Brokerage circa. 2021.

First and foremost, due to some unsavoury incidents and shenanigans, all votes are to be put up as posts. The posted vote does not have to give any explanation of why the voter decide for or against the submission, but has to unambiguously say "Yes" or "No" to prevent confusion. Of course, any comments would be excellent as it promotes discussions and tweaking of the submitted design to possibly nudge it for approval eventually.

Polls are therefore not mandatory for design submissions, with votes tallying to be taken rather from posted votes. This also has the advantage of giving a voter the chance to change their vote eventually which a polling vote does not allow for.

Design Submissions for BTM

1) Obviously, The submitted design must pass unit construction rules.

2) There must be appropriate fluff for the design using Canon (up to the end of the FedCom Civil War) or BTM Timeline.

3) The build must be realistic. One can design a "Gausszilla", but why would anyone do so when there are already numerous similar designs out there? There has to be a valid reason for the design, either through fluff or by showing a military need for that design.

4) The design must get more positive than negative votes with a simple majority of 51% being the threshold. The voting will be open for a three month period and approval of the design will be decided at that time. However, to avoid the scenario whereby members start flooding the staff with demands that their designs with 2 votes be approved, a minimum of 6 total votes must be cast for a submission to be considered. Other than preventing every single design put up to be deemed to have pass the basic criteria, this minimum would also signify that at least considerable number of forum members have viewed and considered said design. If a design is something that essentially only the person who posted it is interested in, we strongly suggest doing a RP refit instead.

5) The submitted design must have accurate BV2 value and costs associated with the design. A lack of these figures will automatically disqualify the hardware from being accepted until they are provided.

6) Technology outside of our current timeline cannot be used. As BTM advance along the lines of CBT's timeline, so will approved technology. However, future technology (based on year of introduction) will not be allowed to be fitted to military hardware.
