Starting Things Up

When I pitched doing a restart, my thinking was that we run a single, large unit of mercenaries to begin, and split off as we see fit.

However, if we're keen to pick up BTM where we left off, I think a big, shared contract would be a great place to kick things off.

That was my thought as well, but with possibly the slight difference in that we either each run our own gang within the singular command. I'm totally fine with a big contract in which each of us participate with our own unit as well.

Hmmmm... seems like I didn't say anything at all eh? Dammit! I just wanna write and have fun here on the forums again.

I just had a wild idea.

What if we had a "Second Battle of Tukkayid" as a big, common contract or event?

My thinking is that Agatha Marik, desperate to hold onto what she's claimed, makes a bet with the Clans in 3100: You have 5 years to claim worlds within 1 jump of the Duchy of Terra.

If they do, they'll have a second battle of Tukkayid. If the IS loses, the FWL will leave the Duchy, effectively allowing the Clans to claim it.

If the Clans lose, they have another 15 year truce.

If the Clans fail to claim at least one system within 1 jump of the Duchy by the end of 3105, they Clans give up their winnings and return to their 3100 borders.

In the time since, it's been hard fighting for the LA, DC, and allied forces, especially because the FWL has, instead of helping, claimed more territory, mostly out of the LA, and are ready to take the Isle of Skye and other important Lyran worlds.

The Ravens and Snakes earn their share by fighting the DC and FS to keep them from deploying too much, leaving Periphery powers to basically hire out their forces to help the LA and DC on the Clan front.

That would definitely involve all factions.

I wouldn't be opposed to a joint contract, where we each provide forces to support the story line. I ran a contract like that with the Rabid Wolves. We had a common goal, and we had a Bad Guy TO&E. We listed responsible occupation zones, and then we built the story as we defended Cavanaugh II from the Free Worlds League. We wrote together, separate posts and joint posts as needed, and we turned in only our work to the BTM Staff for pay. It was very lucrative, and gave me a chance to see another unit, one not so conventional in action. It got really fun when the FWL decided to hammer both of us at our staging areas, and pushed our timetable back. Even though we controlled the story, I almost felt I was going to lose that one.

I REALLY would like to finish up Talitha nicely rather than leave it hanging.

My proposal:
1) I'll have my people finally crack open the codes to open up the door to the cache.

2) As I mentioned previously, it turns out to be a repair base rather than a cache, thus limiting the amount of hardware we'll be getting. In fact, we'll find some repaired machinery, some sent in for regular maintenance, some in partially repaired condition, and some badly trashed ones. The main bulk of items we'll find are things like weaponry, spare parts and some ammunition. Since all the equipment had been sent in for repairs, maintenance, overhaul and what not, their security systems would have been disengaged, thus allowing whoever wants to the ability to simply use them.

3) We'll move as much as we could onto our waiting DropShip.

4) Gosling will head back towards town to look for AFFS/AFFC sympathizers. I don't know how he would be able to find them since they seemed to have moved out from those pubs and bars. Maybe Mcraven can suggest something.

Do remember that the timeline at the SLDF cache is on the 11th, while Mcraven's timeline is back on the 8th.

P. Good. We're starting to get to the end of a sort of joint contract? Thing? I'm getting the Eden's Guard working again, and hopefully get some of the game's functions working.
