To all Mercenary Commands (and Growling Bears too!),

I am glad to announce that the Black Market has been updated for the IC month of June 2021. From now on, updates will be posted here.

I will strive to have it updated every month, but it is sadly not a guarantee at this moment in time. Please see the regular pages on BTM website for the updated list. Please do note that the usual rules apply - first come first serve, and also the possibility that the 30m C-bills you THOUGHT you paid for a Kodiak Assault 'Mech may turn out to be a plush teddy bear...

For Clan Diamond Shark Black Market (DSBM), a random and limited number of Clan hardware will be made available to any and all Inner Sphere and Clan units. This equipment will be both purchasable and non-purchasable Clan equipment listed on the MHB and will change irregularly (it's the Black Market for a reason). Please note that Clan units (only) may also purchase IS equipment (all purchasable equipment with the exception of WarShips and JumpShips) through the Diamond Sharks as well.

IS equipment will not change monthly as there is no restriction by outside forces on the sell of this equipment. Prices for all equipment may vary against MHB prices.

Due to contractual agreements, Clan Diamond Shark will not purchase equipment from Inner Sphere units or trade equipment with them.

To purchase equipment, PM myself and the offices of the MHB will process all purchase requests as quickly as possible.

I know that liaising with you directly beyond my authority, but given the urgency of the situation, I have no choice but to infringe on regular hierarchy protocol and hope for clemency later.

As you are aware, a short while ago, instructions were passed down directly from the Director's office that appointed Mr. Morgan Chan as our primary liaison between the Military Hardware Brokerage, United Sphere, Inc., Diamond Shark merchants and, according to rumours, illegal black market sources spread throughout the Inner Sphere and beyond. We do not know of the means through which he communicates with all these factions over so short a period, nor how he manages to shake off tails sent by interested parties that reportedly included LIC's Molehunters, SAFE and even both ComStar and Covenant ROM.

As it is, seven standard Terra days before the end of each month, Mr. Chan would take an official Leave of Absence. Two days before the new month, he would return to office. Shortly after, lists would be spread in the various realms that would offer items for sale to any mercenary commands willing to take the chance of purchasing hardware from questionable sources, equipment ranging from infantry weapons, to BattleMechs to even DropShips. Unsurprisingly, there have been reports of mercenary commanders receiving nothing but a thank you note after depositing the stipulated payments, but these occurrences have been far and between - thus encouraging even the most legitimate merc commands to risk these purchases.

As was his usual practise, Mr. Chan left his office several days ago. However, with the end of the month looming, we have yet to see his return. It is fortunate that the MHB is not faced with excessive chores that require his direct attention, but his absence is causing considerable unease among our staff.

We will update your office as event unfold, but we fervently hope that Mr. Chan had not succumbed to some... unfortunate misadventure related to his... seedier undertakings. We can only hope that the delay is due more to his up to his usual shenanigans, or that his would be bringing back sizable offerings to the mercenary market.

OOC: many thanks to the Director for the above write up! And of course, it means that the Black Market for the month of August has been updated – with a slight twist of course. In each of the realm’s Black Market, there is at least one item that one does not see frequently. Go check them out! A couple of examples – a superheavy tank that can anchor any artillery formation, the offering of cruise missile firing capability, Solaris 7 ‘Mech with claws, 100 ton Clan tank that usually costs over 80 million c-bills, prototype of a heavy OmniFighter that would not be available to the general market even after its canon release year of 3109 and a Black Market listing that rivals a Diamond Shark counterpart with its proliferation of Clan tech…)

Also, the DSBM is of course ready for business as well!

Based on feedbacks from several business associates and stake holders, the Clan Diamond Shark merchant caste has decided to prune down on the number of 'Mechs on offer and expand on other classes of military hardware.
