Military Hardware Brokerage circa. 2021

Postby Vampire » Sat Jul 24, 2021 3:55 am

With some of the rules, updates and what no dispersed all over on the forums as well as in Discord channels, I thought it best if I created this and consolidate new rules, regulations, etc here. Some have their own threads and thus will be linked, others that do not warrant an individual thread by themselves will be added here.

Without further ado, here we go!

Contract Salvage

1) All units will receive salvage for a completed contract transcript submitted as long as they achieve minimum contract wordcount requirement.

2) Calculation of salvage tonnage is split into two Tiers and are as follows:
Tier 1: Units meeting minimum wordcount requirement for contract, but fails to meet minimum salvage wordcount, Salvage = WC/600
Tier 2: Unit meets or exceeds the minimum salvage word count, Salvage = WC/300

3) As per previous rule, the MUCO/MUXO have to submit a wish list of 3 times the amount of salvage tonnage allocated.

4) Every 125 tons of awarded salvage shall be entitled to 1 free Omni kit. Similar to salvage wishlist, MUCO can submit 3 kits for every single Omni kit they are entitled to.

MHB Purchases

1) Insurance and shipping costs are all waived until further notice. (Yes, I'm THAT nice - unless we're talking about Black Market purchases, which... well, you can't buy insurance for anyway)

2) As such, all purchase pricing calculation will ONLY take into consideration either unit or faction reputation under either one of the below options:

a) The standard and original way to purchase hardware is directly from the Military Hardware Brokerage Central on Mars. Under this option:
- A discount on all purchases equal to your Overall Public Reputation in percentage (maximum 25%)
- Guaranteed 50% of value received for any items sold back to the MHB

b) MHB Sponsored Depots
- A purchase method available to units on depot worlds scattered throughout the Inner Sphere. Each Great House has depot worlds in it, which are listed on the MHB main page. Under this option
- Guaranteed 40% of value received for any items sold to the MHB at a Depot World
- Discount is calculated based on a unit's reputation with the Realm the Depot is located in (maximum 30%)

3) Units who make a transaction, choosing one option an RL month cannot make another transaction from a different location within the same month. This is to prevent a unit from buying in, for example FWL to take advantage of superior rep discount, than sell on MHB Central (Terra) to get that 10% extra from sales.

Individual Customizations

Every now and than, the Staff have had to deal with questions in relation to the above - customization of personal 'Mechs, Aerospace Fighters, even DropShips. We have discussed and debated the matter, and have decided on the following:

1) First off, BTM has always been rather lenient and flexible in this. Units are allowed in mission changes so long as it was not a long term customization. It is expected that at the end of contract arcs that machines are restored to registered configuration. Example: the MUCO changes out a medium laser for a TAG on one of the machines so that they could move in closer to enemy positions and call in the Thunder of God from a friend regiment of artillery.

2) Our official stand on this matter is that if its a simple enough refit, we'll just allow it and the unit can RP it. However, if its something overly extensive, post it on the Design Submission and try to get it canonised. We trust that the MUCO will be able to exercise suitable judgement on the matter. We really DO eventually want to loosen the rules for this, since it is one aspect of BattleTech that almost everyone enjoys, but unfortunately, we just are not equipped to handle tracking them at the moment.

Design Submissions for BTM

1) Obviously, The submitted design must pass unit construction rules.

2) There must be appropriate fluff for the design using Canon (up to the end of the FedCom Civil War) or BTM Timeline.

3) The build must be realistic. One can design a "Gausszilla", but why would anyone do so when there are already numerous similar designs out there? There has to be a valid reason for the design, either through fluff or by showing a military need for that design.

4) The design must get more positive than negative votes with a simple majority of 51% being the threshold. The voting will be open for a three month period and approval of the design will be decided at that time. However, to avoid the scenario whereby members start flooding the staff with demands that their designs with 2 votes be approved, a minimum of 6 total votes must be cast for a submission to be considered. Other than preventing every single design put up to be deemed to have pass the basic criteria, this minimum would also signify that at least considerable number of forum members have viewed and considered said design. If a design is something that essentially only the person who posted it is interested in, we strongly suggest doing a RP refit instead.

5) The submitted design must have accurate BV2 value and costs associated with the design. A lack of these figures will automatically disqualify the hardware from being accepted until they are provided.

6) Technology outside of our current timeline cannot be used. As BTM advance along the lines of CBT's timeline, so will approved technology. However, future technology (based on year of introduction) will not be allowed to be fitted to military hardware.
