Sorry if I seem morbid or callous, but for some reason, I'm sort of inspired to start an arc about one of the Militia members hearing about FWLM committing atrocities against civilians, rushes back to Charity Heights to check on his child/family/mistress/partner, allowing the FWLM to trail him back to Tango Six Six and wipes out much of my unit...

Might also be one way Mcraven's team to confirm that we are indeed who we are, as well as for anyone of you folks to jump in to help, thus gaining access to hardware in the cave?

That will make it a very strong story arc, and we will all begin to feel the acceleration of FWLM taking over the occupied areas. We can plan on presenting more resistance and that will also cause us to start gravitating together.

Finally got something up. Working to get back in the flow of writing...

So I've read bits and pieces of what's been discussed, and I have a new thoughts.

We definitely want to make the forum "smaller." Right now there's a lot of forums that aren't being used, and it makes things harder to navigate. If we strip down to just a handful of forums, the site will be friendlier for people to navigate. We should archive old forums, and pick and repurpose which ones we want to use the most. A tighter, friendlier design will be easier for both newbies and veterans.

On Recruitment
We need new blood. Right now we have these peaks and troughs of activity as veterans come in. I've advocated for this for a long time, but I'm just a terrible recruiter and don't have the energy for it, so I'm not sure how to approach this.

Reddit?
One thing that might help is - and hear me out- we may want to switch from a phpBB forum to a SubReddit. Personally I don't like Reddit all that much, but it's where the people are.

Reaching Out
Alternatively, we may want to approach another, larger roleplaying community, and ask if they'd be willing to...Not absorb us, but host us. That would at least help keep administration stable. I do know of such an RP community, and they're run by a bunch of sharp guys.

Leadership
Having a single Admin-director has had mixed results, in that it makes the whole thing dependent on a single person, which is a single point of failure. Writing staff being small has had its ups and downs, but with the way things are currently operating, I think having a sort of open-source mentality is in order. I'd love to see a Wiki that is updated by players; having a decent one will definitely attract people because it'll make us look prepared. Perhaps a tool like Campfire could help us out.

Reset & Timeline
I may have chimed in before, but I definitely think a reset is in order, and we may want to reconsider certain things about how the game is played.

When the game was bigger, units got more and more massive over the years, as did contracts. That, I think, has led to some burnout. I think we should incentivize smaller units and collaboration between units more. But until we figure out how we're running the site, that's a different discussion.

Discord & Taking Care of Each Other
We've got a great, supportive community, but last time I played I felt super isolated from everyone for some reason. I don't know if it was my fault or something, but there is something about the old forum boards that feels disconnected. I know there are tools to connect chat services like Discord and possibly Telegram, and I'd like to be able to more live-chat with people rather than leaving messages for each other every couple hours or days. I know we have a Discord (I'm not sure who runs it) but tools like that can help pull us even closer, which is something I'd like to do.
